Blog Assignment #4

I have decided to make a map of my favorite outdoor destinations in the Golden State! So Click Here to see the best adventures in California.

The things I learned in Google Maps are not only how to make a list of my favorite outdoor destinations but I also learned how this can apply to several things in my major and life. My major is Political science so metaphorically speaking if I run for Governor, I can use Google Maps to set up all my locations that I will be speaking at and list the dates at each location. This free application will help me promote my events and rally's. I can also use this to set up Road trip locations and have it save for my kids to see when they grow up. By saving the pictures and uploading them to my map I can have memories at each location forever.

The 5 most important things I learned in Info System Essentials were:
1) Excel- I hated it but it is so useful and needed in life. It is a skill that I know I will be happy to have acquired once I graduate.
2) Word- The tricks and shortcuts that you showed us really helped me out with my papers! I also enjoyed learning about how to create the index and footnotes.
3) Google Maps- I know we learned this at the end and only talked about it for an hour or so but I'm really happy I learned about this, especially with all the traveling I hope to do.
4) Coding- I know the coding that we did in class was not nearly as difficult as the real thing, but it helped me gain so much respect for everyone that has to work with it. I also liked getting the hang of it.
5) Presenting- I thought it was really useful to see the way that others incorporated their skills at PowerPoint and their speaking skills in this course. Also seeing so many presentations really showed me what to do when speaking in front of others and what not to do.

How would I change this class? Honestly, I sat here thinking about this for some time and I realized that I would probably not change anything. I know that sounds like the easy way out of this question, but it is not. I think you taught this class perfectly. I liked the fact that it was really hard at first then got easier, it worked out perfect with my other classes. I also liked the funny videos on our break time and I thought you had a really good sense of humor. I enjoyed this class and I wish I could have you as a professor in more classes. Especially because as you know I like to make jokes too so being able to have that relationship with you made me excited to go to class. Additionally I know I've said this many times and I can not stress this enough, but I did not cheat on my test the day you saw me on my phone. I really was texting and I know it was an inappropriate time to text so I thank you for being merciful.

Blog Assignment #2 Mobile Learning

Being on the Speech and Debate team often times we are required to gather quick facts to support our argument. The sad thing about schools outside of CBU is that they often times don't offer free wifi so using your laptop isn't ideal and this is where my phone has been most useful. I believe that the best way to do research via your phone is by downloading the Google Chrome App and setting it to Scholarly Articles and it filters your search to only academically credible sources. Now I will discuss the three most productive things to have on your phone to succeed in college. (This will have a bias opinion for Apple users). First the most important thing to have set up to your phone is your lancermail, this will be extremely helpful for getting the fastest alerts and staying well connected with your professors and your school. For CBU students here's a Link to help you get that set up. My second advice and this is best for student who take online classes would be to download the Blackboard App. It is very user friendly and you can set notifications for when teachers post test and when they post grades. This is one of those things that can either make you really happy or really sad, for example Saturdays at the beach you get a notification saying you got a 20/50 on a test would probably be a pretty great way to ruin the mood. Unless if you don't care then by all means continue to enjoy the Buns in the Sun. Finally the third App (Apple Users only)  I would recommend you get would be Pages by Apple and if you have a Mac I would recommend you sync it with your iCloud, that way if you start a paper on your laptop you can finish it on your phone. Or if your laptop dies and you really have to finish an assignment you can do it all on your phone. So there it is three Apps that should help the average student succeed in college.
Here I have also posted a video that I believe to be funny. Being a Political Science major I often times see campaign ads that I know are completely ridiculous. Here you see a Saturday Night Live ad that makes fun of Donald Trump and his supporters. I do not have a political opinion with this video at all, I just thought it would make the average knowledgeable person laugh. Now, if you don't find this humorous then here is another Saturday Night Live video that uses Star Wars and Undercover Boss.

Blog Assignment #1 Introduction

Hello, my name is Bryant, currently a Political Science major with a concentration in Pre-Law and a minor in Oral Communication. My concentration in Pre Law actually tends to be my biggest interest especially since I aspire to one day go to UCLA Law School, but that's not what I want to do right after college. After college I plan on enlisting in either the Marines or the Navy. I'm actually looking forward to this because I've always had a passion for wanting to serve our great country. Some of my hobbies include; snowboarding, camping, swimming and surfing. My interests include; Jesus, family, my girlfriend, friends and growing a pretty rad beard.
Being a Political Science major I'm often asked (mostly in a joking way) if I plan to run for President. This dysfunctional belief allows people to assume that the only thing I plan to do with my major is in some sort a way run for office. Which is a cool thought except for the fact that it's extremely unrealistic, so what does that mean if I don't end up as President then somehow I'll make it on to CNN? This is why the video I watched allowed me to relate to all those who have a major but don't always make it their career. Although I do enjoy politics, I have recently began to grow a love for law and this love for law might push me into being an attorney rather than a politician. Yet realistically who knows with the way loans and interest rates are going maybe one day I'll be the Bearded Boy Bank Robber.
